I know these books to be sound and the deaf use them to teach.
Religious Signing : A Comprehensive Guide For All Faiths
by Elaine Costello Ph.D.
There are a few words that are different now and some that aren't used, but that is the case with all books. If you have any questions about which words, you can ask me, or if there is a deaf ministry near you, they may be giving classes that you can sign up for.
Another good book is:
A Basic Course in American Sign Language,
by Tom Humphries
This one is not specifically for Worship, but will give you much needed filler words and how the sentence structures work etc. These two are books the deaf teach from and between them, you can sign a great many songs! I believe you can get these almost anywhere.
Also, there are some really good dictionaries out there, one of which is:
American Sign Language Dictionary Unabridged [UNABRIDGED]
by Martin L. Sternberg
This one is rather expensive, but if you buy it used, say on Amazon, you can get it at half price. It is very helpful and has a type of cross-referencing. Or rather, I should say with each word it gives many of the synonyms that are the exact same sign. This has been a huge help to me.
Also this one is used a lot:
The Joy of Signing
by Lottie L. RiekehofThere are many, many books out there if you desire to get them, but keep in mind that not all of them are up to date. The best way to find out which ones are up to date, are the ones the deaf will use for teaching us who are hearing. The ones I've given you are ones I do know are used a lot and are up to date.
I hope this is of some help.
